At Tax Audit Shield ("we", "our", or "us"), we are committed to protecting the privacy and security of our users, especially given the sensitive nature of tax accounting. This Privacy Policy explains how our Chrome extension operates.
1. The Core Principle: Local Processing
Your client's tax data never leaves your device.
Tax Audit Shield utilizes WebAssembly (WASM) technology to analyze PDF documents (such as IRS Form 8879) directly within your browser's local environment. The extension does NOT upload, transmit, or store any content from the documents you audit to our servers or any third-party servers.
2. Information We Do Not Collect
- We do NOT collect or view the names, Social Security Numbers (SSNs), addresses, or financial figures contained in the tax documents you process.
- We do NOT track your browsing history outside of the extension's specific functionality.
3. Information We Collect and Why
We only collect minimal data necessary for licensing and basic functionality:
- Machine ID & License Data: To verify your subscription status via our payments partner, LemonSqueezy, we generate and store an anonymous Machine ID locally on your device (using `chrome.storage.local` and `chrome.storage.sync`).
- Payment Information: All payments are processed securely by our Merchant of Record, LemonSqueezy. We do not store or have access to your credit card information. Please refer to LemonSqueezy's Privacy Policy.
4. Data Security
Because sensitive document processing occurs entirely on your local machine, the security of that data relies on the security of your own computer and browser environment. We employ industry-standard security practices for the minimal license data we handle.
